Many people assume that when you say “the tropics” that means it is hot all the time. That’s not the way it works in the tropics. While there are seasons, basically wet and dry, the climate of a place in the tropics is primarily a function of the altitude.
If you are at sea level, it’s hot. If you are in the mountains it is cool. The photo above is in a pine and oak forest in the Tisey Reserve in Nicaragua. It is at an altitude of about 1500 meters (5000 feet). Most of the time the weather is cool, not cold but, in my book, comfortable. But, never cold enough to freeze.
